Why is Cupping Used?

Cupping is used to promote blood circulation, relieve muscle tension, and stimulate the body’s natural healing processes. It is particularly effective in treating conditions such as:

  • Muscle pain and stiffness

  • Inflammation

  • Migraines and headaches

  • Respiratory issues, such as asthma and congestion

  • Stress and anxiety

  • Digestive imbalancesCupping works by improving energy and increasing blood flow to specific areas of the body, helping to remove stagnation and reduce discomfort.

How is Cupping Done?

During a cupping session, the practitioner applies cups made of glass or silicone to the skin using heat or suction to create a vacuum, which draws the skin and underlying tissue upwards.

The cups are left in place for a few minutes or gently moved to massage the area using a neutral organic oil to help the cups slide. This creates a pulling sensation that many find deeply relaxing, despite the slight redness or bruising that may appear afterward.

What Results Can You Expect After Cupping?

Patients typically feel immediate relief from tension and pain after a cupping session. You can expect to experience:

  • Reduced muscle tightness

  • Improved range of motion

  • Better circulation and lymphatic drainage

  • Enhanced relaxation and stress relief

  • Boosted immune function

The temporary marks left by cupping—often referred to as “cup kisses”—are a natural reaction to the suction and usually fade within a few days. We advise to avoid direct contact with water over the area for 24 hours.

Many of our patients notice a significant improvement after just one session, though a series of treatments may be recommended depending on your condition.
