Let’s make sense of

what your body

has been trying

to tell you

You may be living with symptoms that don’t fit neatly into one box, or have been told that everything appears normal despite not feeling like yourself.

Perhaps you’re living with a diagnosed condition and looking for additional support, or are living with persistent pain, fatigue, hormonal changes, poor sleep, or simply a sense that your body is no longer behaving as it once did.

My role is to listen carefully, look at the whole picture and help you understand the patterns connecting what you’re experiencing. Drawing on acupuncture, nutrition, and a functional medicine approach, I offer thoughtful, personalised support that works alongside your existing healthcare.

Together we can find a practical way forward that feels right for you.

You know when something doesn’t feel right

How I Work

No two people arrive with exactly the same story. I take time to understand your symptoms, health history and what may be influencing the way you feel now.

Drawing on acupuncture and a functional medicine appraoch, I look at how different aspects of your health may connect. Depending on what you need, our work may involve acupuncure, practical nutritian and lifestyle support, or a thoughtful combination of both.

Julie Butterworth - Licensed Acupuncturist in Bath

Meet Julie

I’m Julie Butterworth, a Bath-based acupuncturist with training in functional medicine. I bring together traditional acupuncture, modern clinical techniques and a broader understanding of nutrition and lifestyle—but my work always begins with listening carefully and without assumptions.

Before retraining in healthcare, I spent more than 20 years in senior business and marketing roles. That experience, alongside my clinical training, shapes the way I work today: asking good questions, making sense of complexity and supporting each person as an individual rather than a collection of symptoms.

I hold a BSc (Hons) in Acupuncture and a Licentiate in Acupuncture (LicAc), with further training in neurological and sports acupuncture, Shonishin and functional medicine through the Institute for Functional Medicine.

More about Julie →

  • Julie has a way of getting to the bottom of what's going on and sorting out the issue. I'd been getting sicker for what seemed like years, but I now feel like my old self again and I'll forever be grateful to Julie for that!

    Chris - Bath

  • I came to Julie as soon as I had my breast cancer diagnosis. She supported me by getting me strong enough to face treatment and the subsequent surgery. I had awful hot flushes after chemo - the second menopause! But acupuncture stopped these and Julie organised blood tests to see what vitamins and minerals I was lacking and using mainly dietary changes I feel stronger and healthoer than I have in a very long time.

    Rebecca - Bath

  • I had been through the system and spat out the other end with no diagnosis. I felt as though I had not been believed. I thought I was going mad. Julie listened and recognised very quickly what was going on and that the long list of weird symptoms I had were all related. Thank you for bringing me back from the brink!

    Juliette - Bristol

  • I have Parkinsons, and whilst I know I will never be cured, the work I do with Julie keeps many of my symptoms at bay and gives me back a quality of life.
